Potty Man
Friday, August 3rd, 2007It has happened much sooner than any of us expected, but Pierce is interested in using the potty. After changing a very full poopy diaper last night he asked me about the potty.
“Daddy? Pierce Potty?” or something like that. He was about to take a bath so we went into the bathroom and he helped me lift up the lid. “Up!” he said. I lifted him up and he sat on the potty, smiling like a crazy man and started pushing. I don’t know how he knew to do this, but he did. Of course he had just pooped in his diaper so all he could muster were some little toots but he was happy anyway. He grabbed some paper and wiped in the wrong place (sort of in the front) then wiped his hands and tossed it in the garbage can before I could tell him the paper goes in the potty. So he grabbed some more…wiped his hands again with it and tossed it in the potty. He got up and down a few times, each time checking to see if there was anything worth looking at in the potty, which there wasn’t. He clapped and did a little dance anyway. We flushed and took a bath. It was awesome. He is supposed to tell me today when he needs to poop so we can try to poop in the potty. I hope he doesn’t forget.
ALSO…in other news. He has started saying, “Yeah” if you ask him something and his answer is affirmative. He used to inply affirmative by repeating what you just asked (eg. “Do you want a banana?” Pierce would respond “Banana!”) now he’ll say, “Yeah”. He also just started saying “Thank you” when you give him something. He is learning so fast it’s scary. The doctor the other day was very impressed with his vocabulary and enunciation. I think we’ve got a smart one on our hands.
